Relieves Stress

A study conducted in the Netherlands asked two teams to complete a stressful task. Once the task was over, one group did 30 minutes of reading indoors, while the other group gardened. The group that did the gardening were in a better mood and had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol than the ones who read.

Promotes a Healthy Heart

If you hate exercising, but you love tending to your plant and flowers and ensuring that your lawn is perfectly manicured you will be happy to hear that gardening can be counted toward the 2.5 hours of moderate exercise we should all be doing once a week. More than that, the simple act of gardening has been shown to cut the risk of a heart attack by as much as 30 percent in people over 60, and it will certainly promote heart health in younger people too.聽

If you don鈥檛 yet have a garden worth spending time in, it might be worth creating one now. Growing a garden be expensive when you start out, but you could consider personal loans for poor credit to get you started. Boosts Mental Health

There are lots of simple things we can all do to give us a lift whether we鈥檙e suffering from the blues, depression or other serious mental health issues, but few of them are as joyous as gardening. When you garden, you spend time in nature, breathing in fresh air, concentrating on your work and exercising.

All of these things are therapeutic in nature which means that they can lift a mild depression. Just be sure to stop and smell the roses, feel the soil between your fingers and enjoy the sun on your face as you dig, rake and plant. Feed the birds too; their regular visits will make your heart sing.

Boosts Brain Health

Gardening isn鈥檛 just good for mental health issues like depression either; it can actually boost brain power in older people and help them to reduce their risk of dementia by as much as 36 -47 percent depending on which study you look at. Researchers believe this could be because we use so many of our critical functions like learning, problem-solving, strength, dexterity and sensory awareness when we garden. In fact, so powerful is gardening that researchers have said it is the single biggest thing you can of to reduce your risk of dementia or Alzheimer鈥檚.

Pre-flight done right

A simple cleansing diet. What we do for our skin for the 48 hours before flight has a big impact on how our skin reacts to the stress of travel. A couple days prior to takeoff, cut out all sugars and simple carbs 鈥 these contribute to water retention, the last thing you want on an airplane. Up your intake of fresh fruits and veggies, drink plenty of water, and increase your intake of Omega 3鈥檚 with fish oil supplements, and eating proteins like salmon and sardines. This will protect skin cells from stress and dehydration, and help the body to rid itself of toxins.

A pre-flight mini-facial.

The night before flight, be sure to exfoliate, hydrate and protect. After cleansing with your normal cleanser, use a gentle exfoliator like Jurlique Fruit Enzyme Exfoliator to sweep away dead skin cells. Follow up with a hydrating mask like DHC鈥檚 Bio Cellulose Mask (available at Feel Unique), which uses botanicals and fermented coconut water to give yourself a jumpstart on calming and balancing skin. Finish with a facial oil such as Caudalie鈥檚 Overnight Recovery Oil, to nourish the protective layer of your skin and lock hydration in.

In-flight protection

Use a slightly richer moisturizer during flight. Choose a product containing dimethicone, such as Sundari Elder Flower Moisturizer, to help minimize the slow water loss that happens in a dry cabin. If you have dry skin, use a hydration-binding serum with hyaluronic acid before your moisturizer, to infuse skin with moisture and plump lines.

Keep hydrated!

Drink pure mineral water and plenty of hydrating foods like cucumber, tomatoes, cantaloupe, celery, radishes and strawberries.Stay in circulation. Be sure to move around as much as possible, and avoid crossing your legs, which slows circulation. Avoid coffee and alcohol during flight, as these are diuretic and dehydrate skin, as well as restricting blood flow.

How I Manage to Travel Regularly Without Going Broke

You’ve probably noticed over the last 6-12 months that I’ve been away at least once a month, if not more. Whether it’s popping up to Scotland for some camping, exploring聽the souks聽in Morocco or taking in the beauty of the Alps, I’m always on an adventure somewhere.聽My friends and family always joke about how they rarely see me working.聽

The fact is, the world we live in today allows everyone a chance to shape their own destiny no matter where they are in the world. There鈥檚 a growing movement of people who are doing it and so can you. Today I am going to show you how I am able to travel regularly without going broke, and how you can too.

Offer Freelance Services

With the internet, anyone who cares badly enough can buy their freedom from the corporate world just by typing on their laptop. The internet is the greatest tool ever invented for financial and location independence. As someone who travels a lot, this model works great for me as I can make money from anywhere in the world.

If you haven鈥檛 realised it yet, the gig economy on the internet is so huge that you can replace your full-time salary in a matter of months freelancing online and/or side hustling. I have found success and worked with very interesting people online at a level I never imagined possible.

If you are currently gainfully employed, you鈥檝e got proven skills that people are willing to pay for. Your employer wouldn鈥檛 be paying you if they couldn鈥檛 make a profit off your work. When you get rid of the middle man 鈥 your employer 鈥 and go straight to the customer, you can make even more money if you are smart and have reasonable self-discipline to work without supervision.

Make Money Blogging

Old media is dying. Look around you. Everyone is either looking at their phone or at their laptop screen. You are also reading this on a screen. You, just like everyone else around you, are consuming content that was created by someone who is probably no smarter than you.

These people make money off the attention you give them. Just as newspapers raked in lots of money trading eyeballs, bloggers and websites are trading impressions and clicks to advertisers.聽I have made money blogging because I take blogging seriously.聽Treat your blogging business like a real business with its own separate bank account, business credit card, legal name and work hours.

Travel On The Cheap

I have mastered the art of getting great travel deals. You鈥檝e probably seen YouTube videos of people traveling around the world first class by collecting air miles and squeezing every point they can from their travel credit cards.聽If you travel regularly, you鈥檒l quickly learn that travel companies want to keep their most loyal customers for the long term and they are willing to do almost anything to keep them coming back.

It is not manipulative as it helps them get a lifelong customer while helping you travel on the cheap. As long as the company is making a profit in the long term and you make savings, everyone is happy.

Sometimes, I Don鈥檛 Pay for Hotels!

I didn鈥檛 mention this, but my blog, in some instances, allows me opportunities to travel almost for free. My blog attracts an audience that every company will pay money to reach. If I wanted to travel somewhere and I am running short on cash, I can just email hotels and tour companies and mention that I run a travel blog and would appreciate it if they gave me a deal in return for reviewing their service. Not all companies will agree but the conversion rate is pretty decent.

This is one of the reasons why you should start blogging if you are going to be traveling a lot. You practically have nothing to lose. What鈥檚 the worst thing that could happen? You ending up with a blog chronicling your travels even if only a handful of people read it is not a bad deal at all.
