As part of my New Years resolution, I’ve been trying to get fit and improve my health. I’ve been going to the gym, going swimming and I’ve even taken up running. I had to invest in some active wear, as you might have seen in my previous post.

It’s always a bit uncomfortable when you start going to the gym, as you need to buy appropriate clothing (because believe me, running in canvas Vans isn’t comfortable). However, I don’t want to look like one of those women that have gone out and spent a fortune to ‘look the part’, when in reality, I’ve only just started getting into fitness. I decided a few pieces were essential, a pair of running shoes, some joggers, lightweight vests and a sports bra.

If you follow me on Twitter, you might have seen that in January, a couple days into my New Years resolution, that I cut my leg on a spinning machine. It’s typical that the first time I attend a spinning class I end up slipping and wounding myself! Anyway, I soon experienced the importance of a sports bra, and how they are a god-sent for situations where you don’t want to bounce, it was time to invest.

Reasons to wear a sports bra

Sports bras can also be very comfortable delicate fabrics makes it easier for you to move around. They have no underwire, so you don’t have straps digging into your shoulders or hooks digging into your back.

Sports bras are also able to help control and regulate the temperature of your body. Because most of them are made of soft cotton blends, they’re not going to make you get quite as hot and sweaty. As a matter of fact, here’s a related benefit to wearing a sports bra. You don’t sweat nearly as much when you’re wearing one.

However, that’s not the only sweat related benefit. A lot of pretty, fancy bras won’t absorb sweat; perspiration will just end up pooling along the material and leaking down your back. You don’t have to worry about that with a sports bra, and I consider that a huge plus.

With sports bras designed to hold keys and small MP3 players, there is no need for a bag or a pouch around the waist. Especially popular with runners, these sports bras reduce the number of things you have to carry.

Nike, Champion, Adidas and all other major sportswear and apparel brands have come out with sports bra designs that are trendy. The online market place is full of sports bras of different designs, shapes and colours. It’s quite common now for people to wear sports bra without a top, as there are they are so popular.
