Growing up by the sea, I’m no stranger to water sports, and was keen to get back in the water as soon as the sun started shining again! I’ve been kayaking since I was a teenager, going out more and more every year. I met my boyfriend two years ago and since then he’s been showing me the ropes of fishing and outdoor cooking too!
Before now I’ve been using a spare kayak that he had, and before that I used to borrow kayaks from a friend. I’ve finally got my own kayak to go out on the water whenever I want, hurray! I choose the lightweight and fast, Fatyak Kaafu kayak with a komfort seat back and paddle. Fatyak are a British kayaking brand based out of Somerset who manufacture a line of easy to paddle, affordable, durable and innovative products designed for all levels.
The kayak body has 2 x dry storage hatches for safe keeping, 2 x paddle parks and 1 x drain plug, complete with deck loop fittings. The Kaafu is full size measuring Length = 3020mm, Width = 770mm, Height = 300mm.
It is lightweight, ideally for women weighing a mere 20kgs with the capacity to hold 130kgs. It was essential that the kayak was lightweight so I could independently lift the kayak on top of my roof rack, even after having a work out on the water! This is perfect when I want to go out with the girls and leave the men at home!

The cockpit has 2 large rubber hatches which stayed dry during my trip out around Falmouth, keeping my belongings safe! The kayak is easy to manoeuvre, with staggered foot braces for resistances, as well as optional leg straps available online. It’s very comfortable and their is a range of optional seats to attach to your kayak.
The Fatyak kayak is a one piece rotationally moulded kayak, no seams no joints and is manufactured using high grade high density UV stabilised polyethylene. It has moulded in padeye fixings giving unsurpassed leak protection.
