Drink eight glasses of water a day
Lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired. I’m rubbish and only drink a couple glasses a day, so here’s to better health!
Cut down on my tea and sugar intake
Every time I have a cup of tea (with sugar and milk – guilty!) I consume roughly 42 calories! In my attempt to watch my diet and take care of myself, I’ve decided to cup down my tea consumption to a maximum of 3 mugs a day. I’ve already had 2 mugs of tea already, I didn’t think this through!
Apply night eye cream every evening
I’m absolutely rubbish at taking my make up off at night. I’ve usually had quite good skin, but it’s got worse over the years and I don’t help my situation. I’m getting back into my routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising before going to bed. Equally as important, applying eye cream before hitting the hay.

Prepare lunch and eat healthy
In an attempt to save money and keep up with healthy eating, I’m giving myself a kick up the bum and preparing lunches for work. It should be the standard but usually by the time I get home from work I can’t be bothered to make lunch, then I either go hungry or spend money on the vending machine – bad Sam!
Spend less on luxuries and SAVE!!
After landing a full-time job, I used my salary to pay off my debt, learn to drive, buy a car, insurance, MOT, tax, paid my distance learning tuition fees upfront and then I was left with some spending money at the end of the year. I’ve been used to scrimping and saving but had a bit of a binge towards the end of 2013. Now I have everything I need, and everything I want, I’ve decided to stop spending money on luxuries and start saving for something in the future.
Exercise on a weekly basis (minimum)
Ideally, I’d like to exercise more but this is a bare minimum. I don’t just mean exercising at home, I mean going for a run across the beach, going swimming or attending a class. I’ve never worried about my weight or my figure because I’ve been fairly lucky that I can eat what I like, but in my ripe years I’m beginning to get a bit.. ‘jiggly!’

Give up binge drinking/heavy drinking
Looking back on the past year, I spent a bomb on nights out and missed days simply feeling sorry for myself. I’m packing in the alcohol, and hoping to save some pennies and loose a few pounds on the way. Goodbye hangovers, hello feeling good and saving money.
Study hard and get good grades at uni
It’s the final year of my distance learning business degree. After studying abroad, taking a gap year and switching courses, I’ll finally be graduating from a respected university with a top degree. This year will really count, and I’m going to put in 110% to come out with some great grades.
Keep in touch with friends and family more.
I’ve been absolutely rubbish with staying in touch with people and after seeing everyone at Christmas, I’ve decided to (again) give myself a kick up the butt and make the effort to stay in contact with friends and family, across the world.
What’s your New Years resolutions? x
