4 Things About Managing Anxiety I Wish I Knew Years Ago
My entire adult life I struggled with regular bouts of anxiety. I eventually got so sick and tired of suffering that I sought some answers to my problems. If I was to create a list of tips for overcoming anxiety to give to my younger self, this would be it. All of these things will help, but when combined, they have tremendous power.
I don’t expect you to do them all, but I do hope that you at least get one thing from this article that helps you increase your level of happiness. Anxiety does not have to control your life. When you take full responsibility for your life and take the reigns, there is nothing you can’t overcome. I did it, and so can you. These tips are a good place to start.
1. Reduce time spent on distractions like television and social media.
In high doses, these things have been shown to worsen anxiety. Ironically, they are usually very attractive options to someone who has anxiety. They act as distractions from what is going on inside the mind. When you are watching television, you’re attention is taken away from the flurry of negative thoughts that are normally going on inside your head.
The only problem with these distractions is that they take us away from reality and delay the resolution of our problems. Sadly, some people spend their whole lives distracting themselves from their own thoughts and feelings. You deserve better. You deserve to overcome your challenges and live a wonderful life, so be mindful of the amount of time you are spending on activities that are nothing more than mere distractions.
2. Give your body what it needs.
Oestrogen is a hormone that circulates naturally in the body responsible for the changes that occur in females during puberty. However, in excess oestrogen appears to be linked to a number of physical and psychological conditions. In particular, high oestrogen, or unbalanced oestrogen, is linked to anxiety.
Healthy levels of oestrogen is important for for so many other reasons, other than just anxiety, too. Common symptoms include:
painful sex due to a lack of vaginal lubrication
an increase in urinary tract infections (UTIs) due to a thinning of the urethra
irregular or absent periods
loss of libido (sex drive)
headaches or accentuation of pre-existing migraines
Does any of these sound familiar to you? If so, fear not! There are so many supplements, such as Leanbean that support in balancing your oestrogen levels, as well as suppressing your appetite and speeding up your metabolism – win win!

3. Refuse to spend time with negative people.
The people in your life have a powerful influence on you whether you are aware of it or not. You naturally begin to adopt the same way of thinking and behaviour as the people you spend the most time with. If you have anxiety, it is far better to be alone than to be with negative people or bad influences. For example, your friends might want you to go out partying with them, but this is a horrible idea if you are have anxiety.
Alcohol is one thing you need to give up for the time being if you are struggling with anxiety. Giving it up might also mean giving up the friends who go along with it. Spend time with the people who understand what you are going through and truly want to support you in overcoming it. That’s a real friend.
4. Read self-help books and listen to audio programs.
The person who seeks for answers is the person who finds them. Many people struggle unnecessarily simply because they fail to educate themselves or ask for help. Self-help books and audio programs often contain plenty of tips for overcoming anxiety. In fact, there are thousands of books written on the topic of anxiety alone. Reading even one of them will likely give you the tools you need to live a much richer life.
