For those who would want to see how concentration camps were, this is worth a visit. Not as popular as Auschwitz or Dachau, it is equally as moving as any other. Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp was one of the most important camps during the Third Reich and can be reached in about 30 minutes.
Located 25km north of Berlin, this little German village is composed of a number of old churches, beautiful lakes, woods, and lowland marshes. Windsurfing and horseback riding are some of the preferred activities aside from the lakeside favorite, sunbathing. The former summer home of Joseph Goebbels is also located here.
Not very far from the city of Berlin, Kladow provides an easy respite from everyday city life, offering much-needed tranquility and relaxation by the lake. You might even spot squirrels as you explore the popular walking trails across the Havel River. You can just take the ferry to arrive at this very scenic and natural spot, a mere minutes away from the city.
