First of all, decide on a fabric scheme you like and start applying it. Buy some high-quality curtains in the style you’re going for. Long, billowing curtains can add an impressive touch of luxury to the room, aside from being great at keeping the light out! If you can, choose custom made curtains to make sure you capture the feeling you want. Even something as simple as this can add a little extra touch of joy to your day to day life. I came across a lovely idea which I wish I’d had earlier; upholster the wall behind your headboard! This can be done fairly cheaply, and will add a grandiose touch of style. Take your time planning this, and don’t be afraid to go too big! With these features, larger usually looks better.

I’ve already given you all some good tips on improving the lighting in your room. This will have a positive effect, but less so if you’re lighting up dreary colours and ugly wallpaper. Hiring in an artisan painter can give your entire home a unique, beautiful look. The great thing about such professionals is that they’re often happy to change and tweak their plan to suit your unique tastes. If you can’t get an artisan, and you don’t find painting yourself totally exhilarating, don’t worry. You can still play with the colour of your room in a variety of ways. Take your time in choosing a theme for each room when you come to buying furniture. As these slides prove, there are any number of striking combinations you can apply.

Many people seem to neglect the bathroom of their homes. Don’t ask me why. I’m sure you can think of an otherwise gorgeous house you’ve been in that has a bathroom which really clashes with the rest. In a new build home, your private sanctuary isn’t going to have masses of character, so let your imagination flow! If you’ve got a large budget, you could get that luxury tub you’ve always dreamed of. Some people like to go for custom mosaics, or a modern, minimalist look to everything.

Although it seems like there’s a lot of work ahead, don’t panic! Yes, it’s going to be some time before you have your home the way you like it. This is no reason to shy away from the task though. There’s nothing quite like relaxing in your home, especially when you know each bit reflects you. This new build is your easel; now jump in and use it![/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
